Dallas City Council member and Mayor Pro Tem Tennell Atkins was issued a Misdemeanor Class C citation for allegedly assaulting a female employee at the Dallas City Hall, WFAA reported on December 12.
The female employee said Atkins shook her after another employee let Atkins through a secured door at the City Hall. The employee claimed she did not recognize Atkins and so did not let him enter.
The complainant and a witness to the incident were interviewed by the Dallas Police Department’s criminal intelligence and public integrity units.
Atkins released a statement on the same day that stated he never physically touched either employee, although he was agitated because they did not let him in the building.
Atkins is posted under District 8 in Dallas and has served on the City Council for seven years.
